“Thanksgiving Through The Years: The 80s” – Mr. Matheson’s Arithme-TIPS for November 27, 2024

This is the first decade we've visited I actually lived in, so I figured I'd mention a Thanksgiving that sticks out in my mind: 1987.

We had a big extended family growing up, and I remember one year inviting the whole bunch over to our house for Thanksgiving. Somebody brought a VHS camcorder to set up in the corner and document the historic family gathering, and I was obsessed. Whenever I was sure nobody was looking, I'd sneak up to the camera and tell vaudevillian jokes like Fozzie Bear, make silly faces, and narrate my aunts and uncles wending their way through the options lined up on the buffet table. I've always been a bit of a ham... which is also a solid Thanksgiving meat!

Check back tomorrow for an even more groovy decade, as we continue our look at Thanksgiving through the years.

Latch on to learning!
